    Sayings for Today

Scholarship, academic education and intelligence, no doubt, command respect; but if they are not directed to the supreme purpose of life, namely, God-realization, they have no intrinsic spiritual worth. If they are not accompanied by humility, they do not take one to divine presence. The scholar has only ‘shabda-jnana.’ By mere pursuit of ‘word-knowledge’, one cannot find freedom. He remains bound only. By realization of the paramartha only one becomes really blessed and free.
